Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter

This prize draw is organised by Jane Stanley Books, publisher of The World of Roo.

2. Eligibility

• The prize draw is open to residents of England, Scotland and Wales aged 18 or over.
• The promoter, anyone involved in administering the draw and their immediate families are excluded.
• The promotion is not open to residents outside England, Scotland and Wales.
• Only one entry per person is permitted, regardless of the number of qualifying copies purchased.

3. How to Enter
To enter the prize draw:

• Purchase a new paperback copy of Roo and the Christmas Miracle from Amazon UK at its normal retail price between 14 October and 4 December 2026 inclusive.
• Complete the official online entry form before 11:59pm UK time on 4 December 2026.
• Provide your full name, email address and date of purchase.
• You may provide your Amazon order number when entering, but this is optional.

Kindle editions, Kindle Unlimited borrowing, free downloads and second-hand copies do not qualify.

There is no additional entry fee beyond the normal retail price of the book.

Proof of purchase

Selected winners must provide an Amazon order confirmation showing the qualifying book title, purchase date and order number.

Payment information and unrelated personal details may be obscured.

Purchases that have been cancelled or fully refunded before eligibility verification do not qualify.

4. Competition Dates

• Opens: 14 October 2026.
• Closes: 4 December 2026 at 11:59pm UK time.
• Winners selected: 5 December 2026.

Entries received after the closing date will not be accepted.

5. The Prizes

There will be TWO winners.

Each winner will receive:

• One personally signed paperback copy of Roo and the Great Garden Quest.
• One personally signed paperback copy of Roo and the Secret of Barnacle Bay.

There are four paperback books in total across the two prizes.

Prizes are not transferable, and no cash alternative is available.

6. Selecting the Winners

Two winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries on 5 December 2026 using a demonstrably random computer process.

A record of the selection process will be retained to demonstrate that the draw was conducted fairly.

7. Winner Notification

Winners will be contacted using the email address supplied on their entry form within two days of the draw.

They will have seven days from notification to respond and provide the requested proof of purchase and a valid delivery address.

If a winner cannot be contacted, does not respond within the stated period or cannot verify their eligibility, a replacement winner will be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries.

8. Delivery of Prizes

Prizes will be signed, packaged and posted by Jane Stanley Books at no cost to the winners.

Prizes will be dispatched within 14 days of receiving the necessary verification and delivery information.

Every effort will be made to dispatch prizes promptly, but delivery before Christmas cannot be guaranteed.

9. Publication of Winners

To demonstrate that the prizes have been awarded fairly, the promoter may make the winners' surnames and counties available on request.

Winners may object to this disclosure or request that the information shared is reduced. The promoter will respect such requests, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.

10. General Conditions

• Incomplete, fraudulent, duplicate or otherwise ineligible entries may be disqualified.
• Providing incorrect purchase information may result in an entry being disqualified.
• Personal information will be handled as explained in the Privacy Notice below.
• By entering, participants agree to these Terms & Conditions.
• The promotion is organised independently by Jane Stanley Books and is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Amazon, Facebook, Instagram or Google.

Who is responsible for your information?
Jane Stanley Books is the promoter and data controller responsible for the personal information collected through this prize draw.

What information do we collect?
When you enter, we collect your name, email address, date of purchase and, if provided, Amazon order number.
We also record your entry submission, eligibility confirmation and any optional newsletter consent.
If you win, we will ask for proof of purchase and a postal address so that we can verify your entry and deliver your prize.

Why do we collect this information?
We use your information to administer the prize draw, check eligibility, select and contact winners, deliver prizes and maintain appropriate records.
Our lawful basis for administering the promotion is our legitimate interests in running and managing a fair promotional prize draw. 
Where you actively opt in to receiving email newsletters, we rely on your consent for that marketing.

How is your information stored?
Competition responses are collected using Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets, with access restricted to authorised persons administering the promotion.
Delivery details will be shared with the relevant postal or delivery service solely to send prizes.
We do not sell your personal information.

How long will we keep your information?
Competition entry records will normally be deleted within six months of the prize draw closing, unless specific records must be retained for longer to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation.
Marketing contact information will be retained separately for people who have actively subscribed, until they unsubscribe or their information is no longer needed.

Email newsletters
You may separately choose to receive occasional news, new releases and special offers from Jane Stanley Books.
Subscribing is entirely optional and does not affect your chances of winning.
You can withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time by contacting janestanleybooks@gmail.com or following the unsubscribe instructions in marketing emails.

Your rights
You have rights under UK data protection law, including rights to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information and erasure where applicable.
You may also have the right to object to processing or request that it is restricted.
